I've seen some weird shit in VAM but maybe let's not go there? 2D characters don't translate well.
I've got a fair few 2d characters, but that is sure not an example of a good translation, no.
I mean, for such characters it's mostly facial structure and bodytype. Hell, if you they did a better face on the thing you linked it wouldn't be that tragic.
