I was adamant that if I started Art Prof that our content would be 100% free. I teach college and it frustrates me that there are so many wonderful artists who just don't have the resources to attend art school, but who have the passion. So we're trying to make that possible for everyone. -Prof Lieu

@@artprof I am incredibly grateful for your channel - I just found you! I begged to go to art school after graduating HS, but was told absolutely not (but it was okay to go to business school so I'd have a "real career"). I dreamed of going to the Corcoran, which is near me, but, sadly, it was not going to be my future. That was over 30 years ago; I took some classes at my local junior college when I could afford it, and I loved it. But life takes over (kids, family, financial responsibility) and I wasn't able to stick with it regularly, so I dabbled. Now that I'm looking at retirement, I am hopeful that I'll have real time to devote to art making - I found it very fulfilling when I could really focus on it. You have SO MUCH great information on your channel - THANK YOU!!!! I am incredibly grateful!!

Watching in 2020 quarantine time. I feel so lucky to be learning a lot from you. I think you are a born art teacher. It felt to me like I was sitting in a class that i don't want to end. Thanks for the video -- great editing, audio, inserts of art references, everything. Great self-portrait too! I'm so happy to have come across your channel. I'm now your new subscriber. I'm excited to see all the rest of your videos. Thanks again and good luck! 💕

El autorretrato es increíble. Muchas gracias por poder ver cómo lo haces. Nunca me habían explicado como colocar el espejo, la luz... para hacer un autorretrato. Yo los hago desde hace un tiempo y la luz y el espejo suelen ser un problema. Gracias otra vez

You're inspirational. I subscribed and saving this video for moments where I feel like my focusing too much on perfection instead of immersing myself in my artworks and enjoying the development process. Very helpful video with so many valuable lessons! Btw, that portrait came out spectacular, beautiful!

Lol I need to find that "Flesh" color tube 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Strangely I have been unknowingly following her advice about using "off" colors and working my way towards the right skin tone. I always find that doing so makes the final painting richer and "deeper".

A lot of great information. Thank you. I’m holding on to that bit about artificial light being warm highlights and cool shadows and outdoor light being cool highlights and warm shadows. A very needed clarification for me.

This was so useful❤️ I had an assignment a while back to draw a self portrait, I went to my phone to use a photo as reference but then my teacher started pulling out mirrors! It was in black & white (edit: on white paper) and I really wasn’t happy with it at the end. This gives me inspiration for when I’ll do a self portrait again, Btw I’ve just been watching a ton of these videos and they are so so helpful, thank u so much🥰👍
